Minato finds himself fending off more drippy-drippy demons born from the darkness that haunts his past. After remembering where it is he wants to return to, he is reunited with Shizu with a renewed vigor to keep her safe from harm. Meanwhile, hooded children called "nightmares" roam an abandoned mall and wait for their next directives. The hypnos network? The Depths? More mysteries unfold in the second installment of the Raincoat Kids!
“Raincoat Kids” is a deeply introspective project from Meme, presented in the style of a children’s dark fantasy series.
Across the first two volumes of a tentatively planned 5 volume released in the doujinshi format, Yomiache Meme takes an experimental approach in exploring childhood trauma. Undeniably, it is a intricate narrative work that explores complex themes with a dark fantasy aesthetic, beautiful and disturbing in equal measure...
Ramping up the strange and fun
The second chapter still keeps to the loose eerie quality the first one had, but definitely delivers on more answers than questions! we start to learn more about the worlds and our heroes, and most importantly the people adjacent to them. I can't wait to see where the author goes next with this series! The art is still great, there's even more opportunity for Meme to go nuts with scenery and that's my favorite part of their art!
Kicks it up a Notch
If you thought the first volume was a bit scattered, this one hits the core story of the series and runs with it. It finally gives a few answers to questions while making me ask more, and I cannot stress enough how much I adore the art here. Read this series, because it is proving it will only get better.
