Mine-kun is Asexual. He doesn't like sexual intimacy in a relationship. He can kiss a girl, but it's not something he wants to do if he can help it. But Murai loves him so much that she's willing to overlook the fact that she can't hold his hand; that she can't cuddle up next to him when they watch movies together; that she can't fall in love with him the way that she hopes to be loved in return. In the eyes of those around them, is this even a relationship that's meant to last, or is it a train wreck just waiting to happen?

"Mine-kun is Asexual" is a well crafted drama that navigates a complex and often misunderstood orientation.
Inspired by their own exploration of sexuality, Isaki Uta’s “Mine-kun is A Sexual” is an honest and sincere exploration of those who identify as asexual. Consequently, the narrative is presented not to ‘fix’ the lack of sexual interest in the titular character but nurture the positivity that can come from such relationships...
It'd be perfect if they had delved more into Mine's perspective. He was actually really interesting. While viewing him through an outsider's lense was cute, after a while it begins to dilute the better aspects of the story. So, putting her in that leading role really amplifies an already loud set of opinions.. Honestly, if the goal of this manga was to paint most people's perspective on sex as annoying, then this story definitely succeeded that. As far as informing people on the common nuances of asexuality? It had the potential. But, regardless. This subject matter is very much unexplored in the world of manga. So, even th... view moreough this work had some obvious shortcomings, its definitely still worth the read. I loved it!
I loved to see how the author took care to explain and to make sure the characters did not feel forced to just fake a relationship, and intead, to really face the reality of it.
An amazing comic!
I highly recommend this for anyone who is asexual or maybe knows someone who is. Or even just people trying to find themselves. It's a sweet story, really, I highly recommend it.
A lovely bittersweet story
I stumbled upon this title on a blog and I was happy to purchase this Mine-kun story. The story expresses the conflicts of a first love relationship, one I heavily relate to. As being a girl, I can feel the affection and struggles between both. I would love a sequel end where Mine-kun can be happy at an Ace gathering or share movies with his next partner. Thank you for this valuable, affirming story.
